It really doesn't matter if it's your fault. It doesn't matter if you're on the ocean, traveling, going to work, committing a crime & getting caught, living "on the edge;"
God is there. And He is ready for you to call on Him:
Psalm 107: 2-3 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the adversary And gathered from the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the south.
The writer of this Psalm says, "Tell us about what God has done for you, whatever the circumstances, wherever you are..."
And then he gives us some samples of what he means:
4 They wandered in the wilderness in a desert region; They did not find a way to an inhabited city.
5 They were hungry and thirsty; Their soul fainted within them.
10 There were those who dwelt in darkness and in the shadow of death, Prisoners in misery and chains,
11 Because they had rebelled against the words of God And spurned the counsel of the Most High.
12 Therefore He humbled their heart with labor; They stumbled and there was none to help.
17 Fools, because of their rebellious way, And because of their iniquities, were afflicted.
18 Their soul abhorred all kinds of food, And they drew near to the gates of death.
23 Those who go down to the sea in ships, Who do business on great waters;
24 They have seen the works of the LORD, And His wonders in the deep.
25 For He spoke and raised up a stormy wind, Which lifted up the waves of the sea.
26 They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths; Their soul melted away in their misery.
27 They reeled and staggered like a drunken man, And were at their wits' end
The examples are about evenly divided between groups of people who get into trouble because they were just "living life," going about their business, and the "rulebreakers," men and women who consciously decided that they would live just as they please, and not fear rebelling against the Almighty.
In every case, people get into trouble--and in every case, God hears the sincere prayers of the people who are in the middle of life's messes, and reaches out to help them.
It doesn't matter if you're in trouble because of your own rebellious behavior, or if you were "not doing anything wrong." God listens. That's the message here, and lots of other places in the Scriptures.
Here's another example:
1 Out of the depths I have cried to You, O LORD.
2 Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications.
3 If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?
4 But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared.
5 I wait for the LORD, my soul does wait, And in His word do I hope.
6 My soul waits for the Lord More than the watchmen for the morning; Indeed, more than the watchmen for the morning.
7 O Israel, hope in the LORD; For with the LORD there is lovingkindness, And with Him is abundant redemption.
8 And He will redeem [you] from all [your] iniquities.
In all the examples here, God is "invisible;" things just "work out," and the God who sets men free acts so that those who know what's happened can praise Him, but to others everything looks like a lucky chance. Thing is, with God life is full of lucky chances.
Ever wonder what God might have to say to YOU today? Here are things to ponder, and things to receive into your heart. If you have a question, put it in the comments. I respond as much as I can.
A note for all my readers: I've been experimenting with YouTube videos for Bible teaching for a while, and I'm working through Revelation here. My YouTube videos are currently short studies in Matthew, and at present I'm posting videos on Revelation as well. Both appear on the blog, which is turning into a Vlog.
